Buyer guides

What to define before retail or FBA-ready packaging begins.

Boxes, dust bags, hangtags, protective packing and channel-specific labels work best when they are included in the original product brief.

Leather goods being prepared with retail packaging materials

Boxes, dust bags, hangtags, protective packing and channel-specific labels affect cost, packed dimensions and customer presentation. Treating packaging as part of development helps buyers avoid late changes after the product itself has been approved.

Start with the sales channel

A retail gift set, distributor carton and FBA-ready unit do not require the same presentation. The team first needs to understand how the product will be displayed, handled, stored and delivered.

This context guides the choice of protective layers, individual packing, labels, inserts and outer presentation.

Items to confirm before production packing

Include packaging requirements in the same approval process as the product wherever possible:

  • Individual box, dust bag, sleeve or protective wrap
  • Hangtags, care information and branded inserts
  • Barcode, FBA-ready or buyer-specific labels
  • Gift-set layout or coordinated presentation
  • Outer-carton and direct-fulfillment requirements

Review product and packaging together

The packed product should be checked for fit, protection and presentation. Hardware should not press against an unprotected surface, a product should not move excessively inside a box, and labels should remain readable and correctly placed.

BOSHIHO can coordinate product packing requirements with bulk shipment, FBA direct delivery and dropshipping discussions where these services fit the buyer’s program.
